Fantagio‘s rising girl group Weki Meki is back and looking dangerously hot as ever in their latest MV titled ‘Crush‘. This is the group’s second comeback this year; their previous single being ‘La La La‘, which was released in February.
‘Crush‘ is the title track of the groups’ 1st single album ‘Kiss, Kicks‘, which was released along with the MV on October 11. The album includes two other songs called ‘True Valentine‘ and ‘Dear‘. Both are equally as funky and upbeat as the title track.

The MV contains cinematic elements as the group takes on a stronger and more fierce concept, showcasing their bad girl image. Dressed in dark, edgy outfits including fishnets and combat boots alongside dramatic accessories, Weki Meki are ready to carry out mischievous deeds. Situated in a warehouse, not only are motorcycles and vintage cars evident, the members are also seen testing out weapons such as guns, rifles and even a shuriken. The colour scheme is predominantly hot pink and black, reflecting the members’ feminine and dark sides respectively. The video ends with all eight members getting arrested and having their mugshots taken. This is when their goofy side surfaces as they laugh and pull humorous expressions. Yoojung eventually coughs up a silver key and the members skip away happily, freeing themselves from jail.
Musically, the song is extremely catchy and upbeat with a throbbing tempo. There is an interesting fusion of different music styles complementing the vocals and rap. For example, there are pop-rock, house and EDM elements. With contribution from Yoojung, the lyrics talk about – as the title suggests – developing a crush, and despite trying to fight back the feelings. The members only fall in love even more and are eager to win their crush’s heart.
