On October 4th, WJSN CHOCOME released the MV teaser for their debut title track, ‘Hmph!’. The track comes off the unit’s debut single album by the same name. Check the teaser out down below!
WJSN CHOCOME ‘HMPH!’ MV TEASER:
The MV teaser is full of quirkiness with pungent pops of colours of the rainbow throughout. We first see the girls confidently strut their stuff holding trumpets as they play them in extra ways. A number of colourful vivid sets are shown after that surely feast the eyes. The group show a snippet of the cute choreography of the track in outfits that were released in earlier concept photos. These included retro vibrant shirt and skirt combo with huge hair bow accessories, and a set of candy inspired baby pink dresses. The teaser abruptly ends with the group in solid tone 70s inspired outfits carrying random objects such as an umbrella and paint brush, then surrounded by toy lobsters.
The tune playing in the background gives us a hint at the sound of the song. Comparing to the visuals, the brassy synth melody and bright vocals compliment each other to create an exciting atmosphere.
WJSN CHOCOME is the first sub-unit to debut from girl group WJSN. They consist of four members; Soobin, Luda, Yeoreum and Dayoung. The weird and wacky concept is a huge change against the main group’s typical fairy and magical music releases. However, fans are taking to the upcoming release with open arms as it’s very rare and unique to see groups attempt this type of concept nowadays. People have pointed out the similarities in its loud nature to another sub-unit Orange Caramel that were renowned for their bombastic colourful concept. With the trend of girl crush in girl groups these days, and the number of cute concepts slowly reducing, the weird and quirky concept is refreshing and fans everywhere are looking forward to what the full track will sound like.
WJSN CHOCOME‘s 1st single album, ‘Hmph!’ featuring the title track of the same name, will be released on October 7th, 6PM KST!
