YG Entertainment has recently made a licensing deal with Aurora World, an expert in merchandising.
With this deal, YG officially jumps into a new market. The partnership between the companies is expected to take on new marketing strategies to cater to to YG’s international audience.
YG is a record label created by CEO Yang Hyun Suk, former member of Seotaiji and Boys. His company is known for being the home of some of the most popular Hip-Hop artists in the past, such as Jinusean and 1TYM. Nowadays, Teddy Park, leader of 1TYM is now the main producer of YG for acts such as 2NE1, BIGBANG and Lee Hi.
YG gives it’s artists freedom to create their music and perfect their style.
“It remains to be seen how the two companies will collaborate to produce a new business model.” Yang Hyun Suk said. “This will be an important stepping stone for us to bring what we have out to the entire world.”
YG has already begun to make its way into foreign music markets, with acts like Psy and 2NE1’s collaborative efforts with the Black Eyed Peas‘ Will.i.am.
