YG vs. SM Showdown In March: Will It Happen?

Before you start reading this article, a little reminder: this is opinion article dealing with existing facts and fans’ opinions.

2015 has started with a great comebacks like Infinite H and U-Kiss, as well as solo debuts like Jonghyun and Jung Yonghwa, and it is still only January.

But the most awaited comebacks, that from EXO and Big Bang, are still to come.

According to much fan speculation, the two most awaited comebacks this year, those from EXO and Big Bang, are going to happen at the same time in March. We know that this is purely rumor, but can you even imagine that possibility?

Big Bang has been away for more than 1000 days as a whole group, I know it’s hard to imagine that. We know that members have had comebacks with solo albums, but V.I.P’s are still waiting for OT5, and this time around Big Bang is finally preparing for a boom in the K-Pop world. We are really spoiled when it comes to BigBang; with that crazy talent that they have, fans are expecting something that will change the course of K-Pop from now on. For living legends this is a small task, right?

SM and EXO, those two in 2014 were in a crazy situation for whole year. That story is well known; with amazing success with “Overdose,” EXO’s popularity has risen to points that were unimaginable in the beginning. EXO started from the bottom slowly, and in their biggest stage of fame two members left the group, but that still made them stronger than before. Now OT10 is coming back with whole new perspective, and the fans are waiting with eagerness to see what will they bring to the stage this time. There is place for more doubts in group’s unity, as SM has kept rather silent this whole time since Luhan and Wu Yi Fan left the group. I don’t really know if the silence is good or bad thing, I could say both.

Teasers are out, EXO is coming back in the first part of the year, but when?

YG also is keeping a tight lid on details, only revealing that Big Bang is preparing for comeback, and with the track record that we know, can we really believe YG? There’s always a chance we may be in for a surprise.

Let us deal with facts here; G-Dragon announced a World Tour in April, so they must come back earlier because of promotions, that last at least for three weeks. So, we are already in March. Also, YG promised to debut iKON in January, really YG?
So January is over, so my count is this, if iKON with a miracle debuts in mid-February, they need to make room for iKON promotions too…

So, if my logic serves me well, Big Bang will comeback in early March.

We come to EXO. SM promised that the comeback is near, much more so than the fans are expecting. Is there even room for these two to promote at the same time? One thing, I’m not saying here that one is better than the other, but as a fan of both groups I think this will be hard. Either way, I will support both.

With crazy and enormous fandoms from both bands, if this comes true, it will be a true fanwar. It makes me think: do the two companies even want that? In my humble opinion this will not serve anyone well. I don’t want to say EXO should back down or Big Bang, but there surely will have to be some order.

The ultimate battle between SM and YG: who do you think will win?

At the end of this story, the most important thing is that both groups are coming back with amazing albums, and this is what matters. When? That comes second.
