CNBLUE‘s Yonghwa has recently revealed that he would pre-release a music video from one of the songs on his upcoming solo album, and that it would feature the rapper Yang Dong Keun (YDG). Now, he’s unveiled the music video for “Mileage,” and it’s awesome.
The music video is completely different from all CNBLUE’s ones. No crying, no suffering for unrequited love, no desperation. It almost feels like Yonghwa decided to show a whole new style in this video, as if to separate his solo career from CNBLUE’s promotions. And he’s doing an exceptional job so far.
“Mileage” is about two friends (Yonghwa and YDG) who want to take a break from their busy lives full of bills to pay, but don’t want to sadden their loved ones. Although the theme isn’t exactly happy, the music video is extremely funny and includes lots of unusual objects, which go from a plastic doll as a wife, to fake Korean food that they eat like it’s totally tasty, and a car that spills out money.
If you’re looking for references, it reminds of Almeng‘s “Phone in Love“, 2NE1‘s “HAPPY,” and HEYNE‘s “Red Lie.” Take a look:
Yonghwa has started his solo career flawlessly. The song is extremely catchy, and shows each of his multiple talents (including, as it seems at 3:28, dancing) in the best possible way.
We wait anxiously for the announcement of his other three collaborations, and raise our expectations for the title track and the rest of the album.
Stay tuned to keep updated!
