On September 6th, DAY6‘s YOUNG K released the music video to his solo debut title track, ‘Guard You’. The track comes off the 1st mini album, ‘Eternal’. Containing a total of seven tracks, the lyrics written by the songwriter himself. Despite this debut, the singer announced he will enlist in the military to complete his compulsory time at the post. Scheduled to enlist sometime in October, he is the second member of the JYP Entertainment band to leave after Sungjin went in March.
Lyrically, the track discusses the protective nature of someone willing to guard their beloved even to the point of the world ending. The rock instrumental is not dissimilar to the group’s usual tracks. However, with a darker emo vibe in the chorus, it hits harder with the almost shouted and powering vocals, extracting every bit of emotion against the raw backing.

YOUNG K ‘GUARD YOU’ MV:
Watching the video, we see the singer casually watering plants in what looks like an apocalyptic living arrangement. Surrounded with metal and darkness, the streams of light highlight something abnormal. Soon enough, we see asteroids from space burning, increasing in speed with their trajectory plainly towards Earth. When the chorus kicks in, he switches to an all black modern rock aesthetic with bandmates wearing all white and face masks. By the final refrain, with the asteroids about to impact, the water sprinklers from the living quarters burst open with emergency red lighting alarming the whole area. With the end screen showing the inevitable destruction, we see the bassist look out the window to normal sunlight.
