‘I Came, I Saw, I Conquered,‘ or in Latin the phrase is “Veni, Vidi, Vici,” was made popular by one of the great people in the history of mankind, Julius Caesar, during one of his victorious battles. Same like Caesar, Block B‘s very own charismatic, powerful leader and influential hip-hop lyricist and producer, ZICO(지코) is continuing to slay souls of both haters and supporters with his new track, “VENI VIDI VICI” from his first solo mini-album “Gallery.”
Released on the 8th of December at midnight, this track is loaded with striking and on-point lines that will surely make you wonder about certain issues surrounding the music scene and industry in Korea, especially in hip-hop. As expected from one of the most talked-about and inspiring hip-hop artists in Korea today, ZICO talks about his life with this track, more serious compared to previous tracks “Boys and Girls” featuring Babylon, and “Yes or No” featuring PENOMECO and 1LLIONAIRE‘s The quiett, and much sharper than his “Tough Cookie.”
Days ago, he also released his title retro hip-hop track “Eureka” with the help of Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA)’s Male Artist of the Year 2015, Zion T, and last 7th of December, he gave us another atomic bomb track and its music video “Pride and Prejudice” featuring Suran(수란). And I thought the slayage this year from him ended with that, but I was wrong. I was so so wrong, because as the moment he dropped the teaser for the “VENI VIDI VICI” music video, I couldn’t help but get anxious and impatient. And the long wait was over, and I saw that amazing yet impressive music video, and plan to listen to the song like there’s no end to it.
Shot in famous places in Los Angeles, California, USA, the music video started with a cool intro of a sexy and beautiful African American lady with Gucci glasses holding a suitcase. The beat by DJ wegun added to the hype and soul of this hip-hop track of ZICO. Mind you, his lyrics here as so epic, I can’t stop replaying and reading them again, trying to decipher them one by one, and you too will be blown away. Truly, he proves his haters and supporters right, that he is indeed the king of the 3rd generation of korean hip-hop in his 24. Not to mention, his shirts show legends like rock band KISS, rap god Eminem, and more.
Brace yourselves, as you’ll witness the Julius Caesar of Korean hip-hop, ZICO with his hot and sizzling new hip-hop music video, VENI VIDI VICI below.
This old hip-hop track from ZICO is the first track from his first solo mini-album “Gallery” and I must say, this album is a must-have for all K-hiphop lovers out there. And if you want to have more updates about ZICO, you may check out through Block B’s Official Facebook page here.
