On the 5th day of K-Christmas, K-Pop gave to me
5 Awesome Videos,
4 Sexy Concepts,
3 Glorious Maknaes,
2 Sets of Twins,
And One Epic Comeback!
This is the day in the song that brings people in from other rooms to sing along as loudly, and usually as awkwardly, as possible. It is the part of the song that everyone loves, and these hand-selected 5 videos are just like that. Every single one of these videos blew our minds when they were released, making us flail. Some of them were no surprise:
While others came out of left-field and shocked us, making us want to run around like crazy people.
Excited yet? You should be, you are in for a treat! Oh and just in case you couldn’t tell..
VIXX “Error”
There are simply not enough words in the English language to explain the awesomeness of this song and video. The story-line is amazing, it fits the song perfectly, and adds an edge to it that is just perfect. The dancing is incredible, the vocals are incredible, it’s all incredible. Except for that hat, that hat is an abomination and should be killed with fire. This video is just all of the things, all of the time.
Orange Caramel “Catallena”
Orange Caramel is one of the magical sub-units that really outshines their main group. In all honesty, several of us here are of the opinion that they should just be their own group, separate from After School. This video sums up everything about Orange Caramel that makes them amazing; original concept, and classy but not overly sexy themes. This is just one of the most well done, well thought-out and detailed videos of the year. The attention to detail is just outstanding. As is expected from these girls, the choreo is spot on as well.
Jay Park “Metronome”
Oh lord, this video. So good. So sexy, with an old-school JT feel to it. The imagery is outstanding, the concept is spot on for the song and can we just say, DAMN this is a fine looking video! There’s so much to love in this video and song. Jay Park is amazing as always, Gray is one of the most under-appreciated rappers and producers in the game, and Simon D will simply blow your mind. This is one of those videos and songs that I listen to at least once a day without fail since its release. Can I just say, the chick in this video is out-of-hand crazy! Like whoa, she needs to maybe go lie down for a while and think about her life choices.
WINGS “Hair Short”
WINGS is probably the best girl-group to debut this year, hands down. They have such a unique sound, and their concepts are so intriguing. When this video came out, I showed it to all of my friends, even the non K-Pop fans loved it. The idea behind this video’s storyline is so interesting, and has led to several debates about what actually goes on and what led us to the events we see here. What do you think really happened?
B.A.P. “1004 (Angel)”
Even without the drama the last few months have seen, B.A.P. is always first in the fans’ minds. Between their impeccable good looks, skilled dancing, and epic videos, there is no questioning their talent. When this song was released, there was no denying it was another of what we’ve come to expect from the boys; hard-hitting choreo, a dramatic and slightly confusing storyline, and more good looks than should be allowed. Does this video mean anything? What exactly is going on? Does it matter? Not one bit. Some people have complained about how this video is trying too hard to be deep, but that’s just silly. Don’t think too much about it, just let it be and appreciate it for what it is: one of the gifts B.A.P. gave their fans, hopefully not one of their last.
Did you survive? What do you think of these videos? Let us know in the comments and we’d love to talk about these videos or any you think we should’ve included. Once we can get back up that is..
