South Korean Neo Hip-Hop artist and one half of the Duo OFFONOFF, Colde, held a Pop-Up store event at La Bellevilloise in Paris on the evening of the 22nd.
The event was put together by Cult of Ya and also took place in London at the Miranda at Ace Hotel on the 15th. It was described as a Pop-Up Store/Special Appearance event commemorating the opening of Colde’s new brand, WAVY from Seoul. The event was free to the public, but online pre-purchasing of WAVY’s exclusive shirts guaranteed an entrance to the event.
Doors to the venue opened a bit past 6 PM. Once inside, those who purchased a shirt during the online pre-sale were guided to the merchandise stand to collect their shirts. The merchandise stand included the exclusive white T-shirt and black long-sleeved shirt from the Pop-Up store tour, as well as special ‘Your Dog Loves You’ shirts in various colors. It also included ‘Your Dog Loves You’ and WAVY stickers, exclusive posters of Colde, OFFONOFF’s latest album ‘Boy.’, and copies of Colde’s newest single ‘Your Dog Loves You’. Those who collected or purchased anything from the merchandise stand got a chance to have their items personally signed by Colde before his special appearance.
While everyone was waiting for Colde’s appearance, DJs Illustrious One and Nico Adomako heated up the venue with their amazing sets featuring some old-school hits like Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Jenny From The Block’ and more recent songs like Drake’s ‘One Dance’. Fans began to jam to the music and even went on to create their very own impromptu dance battle!
At around 8:30 PM after a long wait, Colde finally showed up on stage wearing his brand’s white T-shirt and began performing his first song which was his own rendition of BTS’ s ‘DNA’. Afterwards, he took the time to do a small introduction in French where he said, “Bonjour Paris, enchanté” which translates to “Hello Paris, nice to meet you”. This adorable attempt of connecting in French with his fans was met with loud cheers from the crowd.
He then followed with OFFONOFF´s songs ‘Dance’, ‘Good2me’ and ‘Gold’ featuring Dean. Just when everyone was captivated by his performance, he suddenly said his goodbyes and exited the stage leaving everyone begging for more. Fans began to chant “Colde!” and screaming “Samna”, which is the name of Colde’s dog. Thanks to the fans’ efforts, Colde reappeared on stage and asked, “Do you want Samna song?” to which everyone responded with a very loud “Yes!“. Colde then finished off his special appearance with the song he wrote about his dog Samna, ‘Your Dog Loves You’.
Although the event did not have a large turnout, it was undoubtedly an amazing night where everyone present, whether staff or just fans, simply enjoyed the music and each other’s presence. Special thanks to Cult of Ya for bringing Colde to Europe and creating this “free event, one for the culture”.
