Fans flooded into the Regency Center Ballroom theatre in San Francisco January 8th in an amazing, silly, and fun packed night with the sweet girls of Apink for their “Pink Memory” tour courtesy of KpopMe.
With a line wrapping around the building, doors opened at 6pm and in came all of the enthusiastic Pink Pandas with light sticks and fan signs ready. It took the whole hour until finally the fans all found their places and show-time began.
The bubbly and cute girls of Apink, Chorong, Eunji, Naeun, Bomi, Hayoung and Namjoo took the stage with their latest song ‘Remember’ sending fans into a frenzy of synchronized chanting. The girls playfully teased the fans with cute aegyo and flying hearts causing the Pink Pandas to chant and cheer even louder. They then followed with the song ‘Mr. Chu’ and literally had the crowd dancing along.
After the two beautifully performed songs the girls took the stage, alongside a translator and MC Jeremy Fong, to introduce themselves and have some chit-chat with their fans. Pink Pandas waved their light sticks and Apink fan signs as each member introduced themselves in their best English they could muster up. Introductions ended with the MC stating he has an alarm he uses every morning of Apink’s song ‘Sunday Monday’ and revealed that the girls were about to perform just that.
After the song, they opened up Q&A with some questions their Pink Pandas sent in via Twitter. Bomi revealed she likes Ariana Grande and she even gave the fans a little bit of a teaser of her version of ‘Problem’. Eunji was asked, “which member she would like to resemble and why?” Her response was, “I would choose Namjoo because Namjoo is healthy. I see how she wakes up in the morning and she always will pray. She always prays for the best for our group as well as our loved ones. I’d really want to resemble her and follow her in praying as she does.” Eunji also mentioned that “Bomi always tries new things, however her trials usually come up short. Although it isn’t easy to try new things, I wish to resemble her by taking chances to try new things.”
The questions continued with Naeun’s question, “Who do you think is the most shy, and most outgoing?” She responded that, “all of the members are shy, but when you get to know them is when their personality really shows. But I think the most active member in the group is Bomi. She is very bright and a good person.” They turned the question to the crowd and the fans cheered for who they thought was the most outgoing. Namjoo got the question, “Which member would be up eating at 3am” to which she asked the crowd and they responded with “Bomi!” Bomi then agreed with the crowd and responded with a goofy answer that she likes to eat “chicken and Beer”. The last question of the Q&A went to Hayoung. She was asked which song she loved the most and means the most to her, and she responded with ‘Good Morning’. The crowd chanted for her to sing a sample for them and she happily complied, leaving the MC changing his mind about using ‘Sunday Monday’ as his alarm.
After the questions, the girls revealed their next song would be a ‘Secret’ and the fans went wild! The girls sang sweetly, serenading the fans with their beautiful harmonies. Light sticks waved to the beat. After ‘Secret’ the girls continued with ‘A Wonderful Love’ making the male fans in the audience swoon in delight.
They then took a short break and a guest performance by the winners from the Apink dance competition, Sandy, Jenny, and Mit took the stage. They performed to ‘Hush’, ‘Mr. Chu’, and ‘Luv’.
When the girls returned, they were dressed in all white with high waisted skirts and cute white shirts to match. As the members took the stage, they were in for a guessing game where each member would feel inside a box and guess the item within. They divided into “unnie” team and “dognsaeng” team and prior to the show the audience voted for who they thought would win with raffle tickets. The unnie team had a crab in their box, while the dongsaeng team had a mouse inside theirs. The girls squealed and squawked as they felt the mystery objects bringing the audience much laughter. Finally at the end, the unnie and dongsaeng team tied as they both guessed correctly so they broke the tie with a game of rock, paper, scissors. For the first time on the tour, the dongsaeng team won and drew three raffle tickets from their loyal fans that voted for them. The three winners had to do a cute victory dance as requested by the members, and got a special prize at the end of the show.
The show went on with songs such as ‘My My’, ‘U You’, and ‘No No No’ with the fans perfectly chanting along to the melody. Some of the fans were even swing dancing at one point. They then said their farewells to the crowd telling them how they will remember the fun they had in San Francisco and hope to meet again. They closed the show with their song ‘Luv’ leaving the audience in awe.
Though the goodbyes were said, Pink Pandas wouldn’t rest until there was an Encore! The crowd filled with cheers until the stage-lights flashed and confetti filled the room. The girls of Apink hyped up the crowd one last time with ‘Up To the Sky‘ before leaving for good. Pink Pandas will remember this night for many moons to come as they left the concert venue with happy hearts and a fun experience with the idols.
