Sunmi had her solo debut on August 20, 2013, with the digital single “24 Hours“:
Her debut was praised not only for the song and the video, but for the performance as well. Sunmi showed an awesome barefoot dance that was very different from any Wonder Girls’ concept, and it was something that no one had seen in K-Pop before.
The intense coreography became very famous, and many artists such as Psy (for fun) and Girls’ Generation‘s Sooyoung covered it:
Sunmi had her first comeback on February 17th, 2014, with her first mini album “Full Moon“, with the title song of the same name. This album included many collaborations with other JYP Nation artists such as Wonder Girls‘ Yenny and Yubin, GOT7‘s Jackson and JYP trainee Lena.
The teasers released for the MV were quite creepy, which hinted that the MV would once again be something inovating in K-Pop. Sunmi came back during a time where the sexy concept was being very criticized, but she managed to keep her sexy concept without receiving too many bad critics.
Nowadays, Sunmi is seen as a very experienced and mature artist who always impresses with her songs and coreographies. Right now , there are no hints of a comeback, so keep focusing on her awesome songs!
