Media outlets have been in a race to report everything related to Jessica‘s departure from Girls’ Generation. In the flood of news about the issue, we here at Officially KMusic would like to summarize what has been already confirmed and what is still just a rumor.
Even though fans were hoping that Jessica’s post on Weibo, in which she accused SM Entertainment of forcing her out of the group without any warning, was just the doing of a hacker, it was later confirmed by the agency itself that Jessica is indeed no longer a part of Girls’ Generation.
People started to speculate about the possible reason of her departure, focusing on the involvement of Jessica’s boyfriend Tyler Kwon. They refered to the recent rumors of the couple planning to get married some time this year and that the couple was spotted at the airport at the same time. They have also considered Jessica’s willingness to launch her own fashion brand as a trigger of the whole matter.
Even though the rumors about the two’s alleged plans of marriage re-surfaced, Tyler Kwon himself denied the revelations through his Weibo. However, Jessica herself admitted that she is working on her new fashion brand “BLANC” and that Tyler has been helping her get sponsors.
It was also confirmed by Jessica that she and the other eight members of Girls’ Generation had been involved in a dispute for the past few weeks. Jessica revealed, “As I was planning on creating the business I have shown a lot of interest in before, I sufficiently consulted SM as well as the members regarding my preparations many times, asking for their understanding. Up until the beginning of August when I was launching “BLANC,” I made agreements and received permission from SM, and even congratulations from the members. However, in early September, only a month following the launching, the members suddenly changed positions and held a meeting, telling me to either quit my business or leave Girls’ Generation without any justifiable reason.”
This news came as a shock not only to Jessica and SONEs but also to the producers of the TV show “Jessica & Krystal.” Producer Kim Ji Wook stated, “At the time of filming “Jessica&Krystal,” I never recognized any strange vibes [from the girls]. I haven’t received any official communication from SM Entertainment, so I’m cautious [to say anything].”
