Super Junior‘s Shindong has been reported to be enlisting in the army soon.
Shindong received his draft letter with and enlistment date of March 31, but filed a request to postpone the enlistment until June. Acording to SM Entertainment, “He did receive an enlistment date of March 31 but he would like to participate more in the upcoming Super Junior concerts and broadcast activities, which is why he asked for an extension.”
“Shim Shim Ta Pa” staff members are already aware of his enlistment notice, but they have not decided on Shindong’s successor as the DJ yet. Back in 2008, Shindong said that he would shave his head during “Shim Shim Ta Pa” before he went to the army and that when he got discharged, he would go straight to the “Shim Shim Ta Pa” studio, so we wonder if he’ll keep his promises.
Super Junior’s Sungmin has also applied for military enlistment and is waiting for his draft letter, so he might be enlisting this year as well.
It’s cool that Super Junior sends few of its members to the army each year, so the majority of the group will still be performing. However, it’s always sad to know that we’ll not be seeing an idol so often for two years. Let’s congratulate Shindong for bravely representing South Korea’s citiziens in the army as an active-duty soldier.
