Underrated in K-Pop: Boy groups pt.2

Welcome to the second installment of our list of under-rated boy groups! There are so many that we love we just couldn’t limit ourselves to one article worth! In case you missed it, you can read it here.

With no particular order, here they are:

1. TOP DOGG is a 13-member hip-hop group formed by CHO PD under Stardom Entertainment in 2013. They debuted with the track Say it.

Members: B-Joo (vocalist, dancer), Hojoon (dancer, vocalist, rapper), P-Goon (vocalist, rapper dancer and leader), Yano (rapper and maknae), Nakta (vocalist), A-Tom (rapper), Xero (main dancer, rapper), Jenissi (rapper, vocalist),Seogoong (main vocalist), Sangdo (main vocalist), Hansol (lead dancer), Kidoh (lead rapper) and Gohn (lead vocalist).

Fandom name: ToppClass

2. HISTORY is a 5-member group formed by LEON Entertainment, they debuted in 2013. with the track Dreamer, featuring the narration of their fellow labelmate IU. They are LEON’s firs boy group.

Members: Kyungil (leader, vocalist, rapper), Dokyun (main vocalist), Sihyong (rapper), Jaeho (vocalist, rapper) and Yijeong (main vocalist, maknae).

Fandom name: STORIA

3. ZE:A (Children of Empire) is a 9-member group debuted in 2010 under Star Empire Entertainment with Mazeltov.

Members: Junyoung (main vocalist, leader), Heechul (lead rapper), Kevin (lead vocalist, sub rapper dancer), Taehun (main rapper), Kwanghee (sub vocal, visual), Minwoo (vocalist, lead dancer, rapper), Siwan (vocalist), Hyungsik (main vocalist) and Dongjun (vocalist, maknae).

Fandom name:  ‘ZE:A’S’ or ZE:A’Style

4. Boys Republic is a 5-member group debuted in 2013 under Universal Music with Party Rock.

Members: Wonjun (vocalist, leader), Sunwoo (vocalist), Minsu (rapper, dancer), Sungjoon (rapper, dancer) and Suwoong (vocalist and maknae).

Fandom name: Royal Family

5. N-SONIC is a 5-member group debuted in 2011 with Super Boy.

Members: J-Heart (leader, vocalist), Sihoo (vocalist), Choi Byeol (vocalist, dancer), Minkee (vocalist), Black J (rapper) and Zion (vocalist, maknae). Their name is a combination of the word ‘Neo’ (meaning ‘new’) and SONIC.

Fandom name: Supersonic

6. MPire is a 7- member group debuted in 2013. under CMG Chorok Stars with the track Can’t be friends with you.

Members: Taehee (leader, lead vocal), Yooseung (rapper), Haru (sub-vocal), Red (sub-vocal), T.O (main vocal) and Jerry (rapper). October 2013 they were joined by Lumin (main vocal).

Fandom name: Muse (뮤즈), an acronym standing for: Mind, Understand, Special and Encourage.

7. AlphaBAT originally debuted as a duo act made up of Kyumin and Selin, but soon after debut Kyumin left the duo and Selin was joined by eight new members to create the nine member boy band now under Simtong Entertainment. The group re-debuted in November 2013.

Members: B:Eta (leader, vocalist, rapper), C:ode (vocalist), D:elta (vocalist), E:psilon (vocalist), F:ie (rapper), G:amma (vocalist), H:eta (vocalist), I:ota (rapper) and J:eta (vocalist, maknae).

Fandom name: Alpha

8. FCuz (For Century Ultimate Zest) is a 5- member group managed by Tunes Will Entertainment. The group made their debut on January 8, 2010 with their first single, Jiggy. Originally they debuted as a four-member group (Jinon, LeeU, Kan, and Yejun), but LeeU made his departure on August 23, 2011 to pursue a solo career and they were joined by new members Daegun and Raehyun in 2012.

Members: Jinon (leader, rapper, dancer), Kan (dancer, rapper, vocalist), Yejun (lead vocalist, maknae, visual), Raehyun (vocalist) and Daegun (vocalist).

 Fandom name: For U

9. LEDApple is a 5-member rock group formed by Starkim Entertainment in 2010 with the cover song Dash , from Baek Jinyoung‘s  song by the same name. Recently, a massive line-up change was announced.

Members: Hanbyul (vocalist), Youngjun (guitarist and leader), Hyoseok (drummer), Kwangyeon (basist, visual) and Kyumin (maknae, rapper, vocalist).

Fandom name: LEDA’s

 10. U-KISS ( Ubiquitous Korean International idol Super Star) is a 6-member group debuted under NH Media 2008. with the song Not Young.

Members: Soohyun (vocalist), Kiseop (sub vocal, main dancer), Eli (main rapper), Hoon (lead vocalist), Kevin (main vocalist, maknae), AJ (rapper, currently on hiatus) and newcomer Jun (vocalist and rapper).

Fandom name: Kiss Me
