Good news IGOT7!
BamBam will not be joining the Thai military!
In Thailand there is a minimum amount of men required to commence military service each year. Men who are 21 years of age or older can either volunteer to join the military, or take part in a lottery to fill the remaining places. These lotteries, held in April each year, see men of eligible age draw a card at random. If a man draws a red card he is drafted into the Thai military for up to two years, and if he draws a black card he is exempt from service.
BamBam at the lottery
BamBam passed the health examination ahead of the annual lottery in Bangkok on April 9th. However prior to trying his luck in the lottery, Thai authorities announced that enough people had already volunteered and so no others would be required to pull cards from the box. According to Korean media BamBam was overjoyed with the news, crying out with relief.
Over the years, other Thai-born K-Pop stars have also had to return to Thailand for this ballot. BamBam‘s JYP lablemate Nichkhun was also exempted due to enough people volunteering, whilst just last week NCT member Ten failed the health examination, rendering him ineligible for service.
This outcome means BamBam is free to continue releasing music and promoting as part of GOT7!
