This past Wednesday popular girl group Apink made their second stop in Dallas on the Texas leg of their Pink Memory North American Tour hosted by KpopMe at the Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie. Members Chorong, Eunji, Bomi, Naeun, Namjoo, and Hayoung started the night off with their most recent comeback ‘Remember‘ and set the mood for the evening with a sea of pink light-sticks. Apink fans, affectionately known as Pink Pandas, showed their love for the girls by singing along in perfect unison.
With fan-chants on key blended with Apink’s impressive live vocals, the girls transitioned smoothly into their hit song ‘Mr. Chu’, stopping shortly to show off their individual charms and unique personalities each member greeted their Dallas fans and introduced themselves to which the fans screamed loudly for their favorite members.
After introductions the girls performed their song ‘Sunday Monday,’ a sweet song with even sweeter dance moves, the members stopped once more for a Q&A where they answered fans questions from Twitter. Member Eunji really showed off her quirky charms and signature sense of humor to the audience. After the Q&A the members performed songs ‘Secret’ & ‘A Wonderful Love’
Finishing up with this lovely ballad the girls left the stage, a surprise performance by Minnesota cover group MKDC was one of the highlights of the night, having been one of the winners of the Pink Memory dance cover competition the six girls shyly introduced themselves to MC Jeremy Fong before performing a remixed version of ‘My My,’ ‘No No No,’ and ‘Remember.’ Amidst loud and supportive cheers the group of girls seemed to shine on stage as their hard work and many hours of practice payed off.
After the stellar performance from MKDC, Apink returned to the stage dressed in all white as the MC brought two boxes to the stage and announced that it was time to play a game. Prior to the start of the concert fans were asked to pick between the unnie team and the dongsaeng team by placing raffle tickets into a bucket to draw from. The girls then were divided into two teams with the “unnie” team consisting of Bomi, Eunji, and Chorong while the “dongsaeng” team had HaYoung, Naeun, and Namjoo. Each team was assigned a box and asked to blindly feel the item inside the box and determine what the mystery item was. Both unnie and dongsaeng team guessed correctly resulting in a tie breaker where once again each team guessed correctly. Member Eunji to the excitement of the crowd suggested a game of rock paper scissors to determine the final winner where the unnie team prevailed. After selecting three raffle tickets from the “unnie” bucket, the winners were chosen and weren’t shy to show their excitement.
The show ended with songs ‘My My’, ‘U You’, and ’No No No’ after which the members thanked the audience for coming and expressed both surprise and gratitude in the amount of love that Dallas fans showed them. They also expressed their wishes to come back soon, and despite a minor technical difficulty during the performance of ‘U You’ for which they apologized, the girls ended the show perfectly showing fans their professionalism and immense talent. Apink truly took Dallas by storm and left fans anxious for a future return to the Lone Star State.
