You read that right, BTS has been nominated for the American Music Awards (AMA)! Even more excitingly, they’re making a Japanese comeback!
The news of their nomination broke on 13 September when the AMAs twitter account revealed the top five nominees for their category ‘Favourite Social Artists’. The awards show is scheduled for 9 October in Los Angeles, California. Check out the exciting news below!

The group are also releasing a new Japanese album on 7 November. It will feature Japanese versions of ‘Fake Love‘ and ‘Airplane pt.2′. The title track, ‘Bird‘ is written by AKB48‘s executive producer Yasushi Akimoto.
BigHit CEO Bang Shihyuk had apparently personally requested that Yasushi Akimoto collaborate with the members as he respected the Japanese producer’s outlook on the world.
However, not all fans are taking the news positively. Some are worried about Yasushi Akimoto’s supposedly misogynistic lyrics. Others are also concerned that his association with right-wing politics in Japan will affect the group’s image. As a result, fans are asking both BTS and BigHit to drop the collaboration.
