March 28 marks rapper DOK2’s 27 birthday (26 internationally) so let’s take the time today to wish him well!
DOK2 was born as Lee Joon Kyung in 1990 to a Korean mother and a Spanish-Filipino father.
The rapper started his career at a very young age of 13 when he signed to Future Flow Entertainment. By the time he became an adult, he had written and produced songs for many well-known Korean artists, including Drunken Tiger, Dynamic Duo and Epik High. He teamed up with rapper Microdot for a duo named All Black and released the album ‘Chapter 1’ in 2006. Few years later, in 2009, DOK2 released his first solo mini-album ‘Thunderground.’
In 2011, DOK2 and rapper The Quiett formed their own label Illionaire Records, which, despite its small size, is considered one of the most influential hip hop record labels in South Korea.
In 2014, DOK2 made his name known as the judge on the third season of Mnet’s survival show ‘Show Me The Money 3’. Together with The Quiett, DOK2 was the producer behind iKON’s Bobby who was a winning contestant. The two have also been confirmed as the producers for the show’s fifth season which is going to air its first episode in May.
Officially KMusic would like to wish DOK2 a very happy birthday!
