The “Birth of a Great Star 2” contestant, whose recent release “Ooh Ooh” with Infinite‘s Hoya has captivated hearts of many fans around the world, is going to perform in Australia for the very first time since his debut in 2013.
Before making his career as a K-Pop star, Eric Nam was already making various covers and posting them on YouTube where he earned quite a large group of followers. One of the people who watched his cover of 2NE1‘s “Lonely” was a representative of MBC who flew Eric to Korea so he could participate in the audition for “Birth of a Great Star 2” in December 2011. He stayed in the competition for about 8 months and made it to the Top 5. Right after the show, Eric Nam flew back to USA and performed at Kollaboration Boston 2 which is a talent competition that empowers Asian-Americans through entertainment. He also continued to make cover songs on YouTube including Katy Perry‘s “Part of Me” with Megan Lee, Mike Choi and Hong Mayer.
He came back to Korea in June 2012 and debuted with his first album “Cloud 9” under B2M Entertainment in 2013. The title track for the album was “Heaven’s Door,” for which he collaborated with Sweetune.
Back in April, Eric Nam also prepared a special shout-out just for Officially KMusic readers where he talked about his comeback with the jazzy sounding digital single “Ooh Ooh” while being on the set of Arirang‘s “After School Club” which he has been hosting since 2013.
The Kwave Festival 2014: Battle of the Fans will take place on September 6 at Federation Square and will include performances by local dance groups performing to their favorite Korean songs, a showcase of Korean Hanboks, Korean movies, dramas and cuisine. Eric Nam will come all the way from Korea to hold a question and answer session with his fans and all the other atendees.
The festival is being organized by SQ Entertainment and supported by the Australian Government through the Australia-Korea Foundation of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
