7pm KST BIGBANG’s T.O.P is now conscious 

YG Entertainment has released a statement confirming that BIGBANG member T.O.P (real name Choi Seung Hyun) was found unresponsive on the morning of June 6 2017 in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, and immediately rushed to hospital.  An official at  YG Entertainment has stated that “T.O.P is currently under treatment at an emergency room in an ICU for [medicinal] drug overdose”.

The statement advised that at approximately 5:00pm KST, T.O.P was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital, but reports have now been received that he is awake, and in recovery as at 7:00pm KST. The overall seriousness of his condition has not been established at this time.

An acquaintance of the rapper told a source earlier that, “The results of the tests have not come back yet, but we suspect that it is a drug overdose.  He has been struggling recently and it seems that the stress has been too much”.

T.O.P was recently indicted on charges of marijuana use and was released from military service over the incident.  He released a hand-written letter of apology earlier this week admitting to his shame and promising to reflect on his actions.

T.O.P’s mother and sister have remained by his bedside during this time.

UPDATE 1

YG Entertainment has just confirmed that T.O.P is not fully conscious, but parts of his body have responded to stimuli. It is reasonable to assume that updates from T.O.P’s family, his agency, and the media, may continue to be contradictory during this time.

UPDATE 2

Further reports have now emerged from a police source, stating that T.O.P never actually lost consciousness “…when he was taken to the hospital, he was not carried there [while unconscious] but was assisted”, after taking a prescription tranquiliser. They also stated that “he is currently not in critical condition,” and “once the medication is out of his system in one to two days, there will be no hindrance to his lifestyle.” These statements have yet to be confirmed by YG Entertainment.

UPDATE 3

T.O.P‘s mother provided a brief statement earlier this morning, noting that both police and media reports of his condition have misrepresented the situation. She also confirmed that he was unconscious when originally admitted to the hospital, and has not regained consciousness since then.

Update 4 [FINAL]

T.O.P‘s doctor will be releasing an official statement on behalf of the hospital regarding his condition, at 4:00pm KST today, 7 June 2017. We will be publishing the information as  separate article when it is available.
