Looks like Jonghyun isn’t done earning his success with his solo album just yet, because “Base” just got #1 on Billboard‘s World Albums Chart after coming in at #2 in its first week, marking this album as the first K-Pop album to get #1 on the chart so far this year.
Billboard wrote an article discussing the genres of “Base,” as well as listing the artists featured on the album like Younha, Zion. T, and Iron.
They also talked about the success of other SHINee members like Key with Toheart and Taemin’s solo album “Ace,” and how it peaked at the #2 spot on September 6th of last year and the music video for “Danger” was “the most viewed K-Pop video in America in its release month.”
Songs from the “Base” album on their own have done pretty good as well, with “Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)” landing the #12 spot in its debut week on the World Digital Songs Chart, and “Déjà-Boo” getting the #21 spot.
It seems Jonghyun and the rest of SHINee will continue their well-earned success. Maybe they will surprise us with a group comeback sometime this year. Shawols can only hope.
In the meantime, let’s watch the music video for Jonghyun’s “Déjà-Boo” featuring Zion. T:
