Known as the King of Kpop and for having some of the sickest moves in the Korean music industry, Rain has gone from a JYP hopeful to an international movie star. Appearing in such films as “Speed Racer” and the box office hit that put him on the map and help introduce Lee Joon to the big screen, “Ninja Assassin”. He has many roles under his belt from actor, singer, songwriter, producer, dancer, choreographer, MBLAQ’s wrangler and “appa”, fashion designer, and model. There is certainly nothing that he cannot do.
Born Jung Ji-Hoon, Rain actually debuted with a boy group called Fanclub (팬클럽) when he was 16. He would later debut again in 2002 under his stage name Bi (비) n Korean or as we all know and love him Rain. He would remain under the radar until 2004 when his popularity finally started to take off and the rest is history. In 2006 he was mentioned in Time magazines one of the “100 Most Influential People Who Shape Our World.” He would be mentioned again a year later but on the online user poll, even though he wouldn’t make it to the physical list. In 2007 he would make his way on to Peoples magazine as one of the “Most Beautiful People” in the world.
Rain started out as a JYP trainee after reportedly auditioning 17 times. He would become one of the most respected juniors until his departure in 2007 to create his own company J.TUNE CAMP famous for producing MBLAQ but maintained his strong tie with Park Jin Young who was his former trainer. Since 2009 J.TUNE CAMP has been one of the branches of JYP Entertainment.
Rain also has a fashion line which he launched in December, 2008. “Six to Five” he both designs and models for and is purely based on his own unique taste in clothes.
Rain is everywhere nowadays and much like in the beginning with the release of “Rainism“, he has influenced and shaped the path of our idols. Rain has shown that everything you do should be done not to perfection but to that and beyond your best, hence the cruel stories Lee Joon tells sometimes. Lee Joon is right there are many faces to Rain.
