It is undeniably known why SHINee has won so many awards over the years. This year’s MAMAs is no exception as the five member guy group, with SM Entertainment, proved once again why their suave charisma and amazing music set them on the top of many people’s lists.
In the words of their stage segment, ‘Marvelous’, SHINee’s stage was everything their title said it was. The start of the performance shows JongHyun scribbling music and playing the piano to ‘Odd Eye’ from their album, ‘Odd’, in a short video that ends with the musician looking at the camera sporting two different eye colors.
Standing on the stage alone, JongHyun dances a whimsical solo with a set that seems like he is controlling it with his mere presence. As the moving lights drop, the spot lights come up on the rest of the members as TaeMin and MinHo appear in a glass case on the left side of the stage, and Key and Onew appear in a similar case on the right.
Amongst the screaming Shawols, both at the show and those watching from their homes, SHINee presents a gift of the stage performance for ‘Savior’. This was a track that came from their repackaged album, ‘Married To The Music’. Filling the show hall with energy and an uptempo jazzy 80’s sound, the five men, known for their crisp dance moves, do not fail to bring one amazing performance with the help of a troupe of dancers.
Finishing the previous song on a dramatic moment as they throw down the towels in their hands and the lights go black, the dancers exit the stage leaving only SHINee for the next song. As the lights come up, our ears are graced with the opening notes to ‘View’, which won the group 9 music show awards this past year. Though ‘View’ is not as high energy as ‘Savior’, it is definitely a crowd favourite. This is one performance you will want to check out for yourself below.
As a Shawol myself, this was one of my favorite performances of the night. Was it one of yours? We want to know how you feel.
