Just days after releasing his comeback track ‘I’m Not Afraid‘, Holland has returned with the second song in his twin single project, ‘I’m So Afraid‘.
‘I’m So Afraid’ is a house-infused EDM track which showcases Holland‘s airy but beautiful vocals.
‘I’m Not Afraid‘ presented us with a bold and unapologetic version of the singer, who has been breaking down barriers and stereotypes since he debuted with ‘Neverland’. In this song, he is the complete opposite. We see a raw and fragile performer who drops the front and allows us to see the doubts, fears and thoughts that haunt him when he’s alone.
The mood of the song is perfectly reflected by the instrumental accompaniment. The solitary feeling is reinforced through the isolated and solitary piano playing at the opening of the song. The beat picks up as the scene moves to a dancer who is moving through abandoned streets. She is dressed in exactly the same clothes as Holland and moves through the empty streets exuding a feeling of freedom and happiness. This is where we get the traditional house-infused EDM drop with the phrase ‘I’m so afraid‘ being repeated in a distorted voice.
