Lipservice have finally debuted their newest single and new member! The group debuted as a duo in February with an amazing song called “Yum Yum Yum” and upgraded with a third member in late July.
There was some concern among fans that the addition of Anna would change the already signature sound that Bipa and Cora had crafted. Now that their newest release “Too Fancy” has been released, fans can rest easy.
The song sounds similar enough to “Yum Yum Yum” that it is a good thing for fans and yet it is original sounding which will be good for the group in the long run. The signature rapping styles and sound of Bipa and Cora is complimented very nicely by Anna’s voice and together the three ladies make the song sound fun.
Also present is the signature brightly colored set and clothing seen in the first video, along with the same dancing style. There is always some nervousness among fans and the press when a member is added (or removed) from an existing group. In this case, it seems to have worked out well for them.
One of the things that I really love about Lipservice is the cleverness of their lyrics and subject matter. “Yum Yum Yum” was about the difficulty of being on a diet and “Too Fancy” is a direct hit at the materialistic nature of some women. The subtle references to other Fancy-ful songs is perfect, if you know what to look for and what to listen for, they are right there for you.
