Finally after years and months of waiting, finally REBELs in Singapore get the chance to see the charming singer, Dean, live. He came down to Novena Square 2 atrium for an autograph session with his beloved fans.
Lucky for us at Officially KMUSIC, we got the chance to sit down and ask him a few questions at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre before his Meet and Greet session with some of his lucky fans.
When asked about how his collaborations with American artists like Anderson .Paak and Eric Bellinger, he responded that he chose these artists through his company as he felt “they are the ones who can really show the most colour of himself”. He then shared that his collaboration with Anderson .Paak was the most memorable collaboration one even though he has met so many good artists now. He had learnt a lot of things by working with the American artist citing it as “fun with no burden”.
In the near future, he also said that maybe he should reduce the number of collaborations with female artists as he felt he has collaborated with a lot of female artists such as SNSD’s Taeyeon and rapper Heize.
He also shared that the main difference producing other artists’ songs and his own songs is the image that the artists portray as well as their voices. As for his own songs, he focuses more on the kind of messages he want to share through the songs.
REBELs can also expect a little treat from Dean as he revealed that he is hoping to release a new song somewhere before the end of 2016 or earlier next year.
When asked whether he has a bad boy personality just like James Dean, he answered in Korean “Of course, I’m not a bad person. But I don’t want something that’s plain and I don’t really understand why am I doing this. Still, I wanna show something in music that is out of expectations, something that is different from others. I feel that this image fits James Dean as he shows us his rebellious image.” That also answered the reason why he chose the name Dean.
He laughed to himself when he tried to recall the biggest trouble he has ever done in his life. He felt that the biggest trouble he has ever done is probably his album 130 MOOD: TRBL. Creating the album has caused a lot of troubles according to the singer.
We also asked if he has any plans of having a concert in Singapore to which he answered, “If my fans want it, yes I will definitely be there to do a concert. I really wanna have an enjoyable and fun time together with them.”
During the Autograph Session, he surprised the fans by singing not just one but four songs. Despite some technical difficulties, the whole atrium was filled with fans who came down to sing along and support Dean. He sang Put My Hands On You, D (Half Moon), I’m Not Sorry and his favourite song from his album, 21.
Dean managed to give everyone who came on stage a high-five and some fans were lucky enough to touch and hug him while he was performing.
Officially KMUSIC would like to thank Universal Music Singapore for this opportunity!
