When it comes to K-pop, choreography and dance has a big part of any new song drop. Usually, cover groups, dancers in general or even just fans like to try to be first in releasing their own cover of their faves’ new release of music. Thanks to social media, it doesn’t take long before any new trend goes viral. The power of hashtags on social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter like to take the lead.
To kick off 2019, rookie group ATEEZ has released their second album Treasure EP.2: Zero to one. ATEEZ has started a new dance challenge, which you can find on their official Instagram called the ‘Say My Name Dance Challenge’!
In recent years, numerous groups like BTS and iKON have broken the internet with their own official dance challenges and contests. Circling the internet with the #IDOL challenge and #KillingMeChallenge last year, more and more groups and idols are keeping the tradition going. All around the world K-pop and dance lovers/fans continue to show love to the idols by covering dances, easy or hard. Throughout song releases and comebacks, there is a crazy amount of effort and dedication – people have to learn a dance and release/cover a new or old song. Dance challenges and contests or even just covers to K-pop songs brings so many people together and connects idols to their fandoms on another level.
What do you think of the new dance challenge? What is your favorite so far?
