Despite the hype around Korean idol survival show, ‘MIXNINE,’ it has now been confirmed that the winning finalists will not be debuting together.
The reason seems to be contract-related, with reports that YG Entertainment pitched a three-year contract and yearly albums to the winners’ agencies. The members would be expected to promote both domestically and internationally for six months of the year, with the other six months spent with their own agencies.
The other agencies said that this contract would be hard to follow, and asked that the duration is kept shorter, as stated in the original contract. Sadly, YG Entertainment refused to do this, and the agencies were not able to reach an agreement.

While YG Entertainment has not confirmed the reports, Happyface Entertainment, the agency of finalist Woo Jin Young, has stated that the debut plans are cancelled. Woo Jin Young has since returned to his agency as a trainee, and presumably so have the other finalists.
It’s a sad conclusion for the ‘MIXNINE’ finalists and fans of the show, but the winners will surely continue to shine in their respective agencies, so be sure to show your support.
