Berry Good‘s acoustic version of “Because of You” is just shy of two minutes long, but the new version is the best two minutes of the original song. Stripped of the effects and standard pop drums, Berry Good removes the sing talking and upgrades the chord progressions. They throw in minors and harmonies to give the song new flavor and interest, showing that there’s more vocal talent to be seen from the rookie group. The video is shot as a close up version. There’s no dance, no costume change. You can barely see that they’re wearing the white dresses from the original video. The makeup style is ‘fresh faced’ meaning that the foundation is translucent, and the eye makeup is more natural, most notably with the lack of false eyelashes. Even though I’ll miss the beach and the backgrounds, they also removed the Expedia plugs.
Altogether, Berry Good removed all the extra stuff, and just gave us the music and the emotions behind the words. It’s perfect.
