Amber Will Leave You Stunned With “Beautiful”

When it was announced that F(x)‘s Amber was going to have a solo album, the “talking heads” of the internet went crazy. Some were happy, some were confused, and some were just plain jerks. As for myself and most of my fellow KMusic writers, I was excited that Amber was going to get the chance to shine.

But admittedly I expected the songs to be rap, fast, fun songs. So when the lyric video for “Beautiful” came out and I listened to it, all I could do was stare at my phone. I was not expecting this. Check it out below:

At the same time Amber sent out the following Tweet:

All of this together has left me with the following thoughts.

1- If there was an award for Greatest Human, I vote it goes to Amber. Seriously I have always thought Amber seemed to be a genuinely nice person. But this song and these the tweets just reinforced that idea for me.

2- Amber is wasted rapping in F(x). It is the opinion of many that F(x)was one of the better girl groups in K-Pop. If your only exposure to F(x) was only the songs that were released with music videos, then yes the misuse of her talents is glaringly evident. If you listen to the rest of their songs then there you get a much better idea as to what she is capable of doing. Yes she can rap, but this song puts her in a whole new category for me.

Dear SM,

Ether use Amber more effectively in F(x), let her stay solo, or let her go somewhere she can grow and shine. SM has been trying to shove their artists to fit into a “musical box” that they never really fit into. The group as a whole has always gotten the bad deal.

Her mini album is scheduled for release on February 16th, so look forward to more!
