In the manner we have learned to expect from SM Entertainment, a rep from SM stated to Newsen on December 1st that “It′s true that SM is preparing a new boy group”.
This does not come to any surprise if you are a fan of the company. Every couple of years they release a next generation group and always of the opposite gender from the previous rookie group. In this case, Red Velvet debuted in 2014, and so 2016 would bring us a new guy group to follow-up. Though recently, they have been slowing down on their debuts being there is a 4 year difference between SHINee and EXO, and a 5 year difference between F(x) and Red Velvet.
In the last decade it has gone as follows with their dance groups:
2003 – TVXQ!
2005 – The Grace
Super Junior
2007 – Girls’ Generation
2008 – SHINee
2009 – F(x)
2012 – EXO
2014 – Red Velvet
We have been slowly getting to know the young men of SM Rookies through various means like the videos of their dance practices, the SMTown concerts they have been participating in and, even The Mickey Mouse Club hosted by LeeTeuk of Super Junior. Though, it is possible, that the guys we know might not be the guys who will debut.
I am a huge fan of the groups from SM Entertainment, and definitely looking forward to who will debut next. What is your favourite debut so far? We want to hear about it.
