2014 seems like it will be a very busy year for YG. Not only are 2NE1 and BIGBANG in the middle of exciting productions, but according to YGFamily’s official Twitter, 4 new groups are planned to debut!
A meeting was held with Sport Chosun on the 26th of January, where the ambitious CEO Yang Hyun Suk commented, “2014 is an important year for YG. BIGBANG’s 3rd full album comes out in summer, and 2NE1 is set to kick off their 2nd World Tour, which is a first for a girl group. World star PSY will be revealing something new, and 4 new groups will be making a debut.”
Normally, YG is not an entertainment label famed for producing a load of groups, thus this news is rare yet special indeed.
Although many may think this to be a quick decision, Yang assures it’s not, “This is not a hasty decision. YG aims to widen the spectrum of its artists with the new groups.”
YG’s new boy group, WINNER, from the reality show “Who is Next: WIN” have plans to debut in February with a full album – this is unusual for a rookie group – usually it’s just a digital single to start.
YG is also to debut a new girl group who are placing their best foot forward for a flawless debut.
When asked if Team B would also be making a debut (the group who went against WINNER on the reality show), Yang did not make any comments. He claimed it to be a , “surprise“.
