As If It Was Destined, Katie Kim Wins The Most Epic Season Of “K-POP STAR”

The most epic season of “K-POP STAR” has finally come to an end and it’s ultimate winner has been revealed: Katie Kim!

As we mentioned in our review article, Katie had a though time during the show and was almost eliminated during the battle round. However, as Yang Hyun Suk had the chance of chosing the last TOP 10 members since YG Entertainment had won the pre-battle, he decided to choose her over Park Hye Su and begged her to not make him regret his choice.

Well, she surely didn’t, since after that she gave on of the best performances of the whole season and ended up winning the show. If it wasn’t for YG, Katie’s dream would have stopped right there, and the season would have turned out completely different. For this reason, she decided to sign with YG Entertainment and will soon debut under this amazing company that has everything to do with her style.

The funny fact is that the only reason why YG was the one to choose the last TOP 10 member was because Jung Seung Hwan had won the pre-battle for YG Entertainment, and in the end he was the one to battle for the first place with Katie. Doesn’t it look like everything was meant to happen like this? As if it were destined?

The audience votes were surely decisive for Katie’s victory since she was tied with Seung Hwan (they were only seven points apart), she did extremelly well on the judges votes. The song chosen by them was Kim Jo Han‘s “I Want To Fall In Love“, which had been incredibly well sung by Seung Hwan earlier in the show, and she got 295 points for her performace (the highest grade of the season). For her second performance, she chose Park Jin Young‘s “You’re The One” and got the same amount of points.

The final episode of “K-POP STAR” was epic in many different ways. We were not only able to watch one of the most fierce finale’s of all time, but were graced with many amazing performances. The winners of the previous seasons Bernard Park, Akdong Musician and Park Jimin, along with other remarkable names from season three: Almeng, Han Hee Jun and Nam Young Joo (who sang as a duo for the old times) joined in on the finale.

We were also able to watch a tearful performance of “One Dream” from the “K-POP STAR 4” best candidates, which included not only the TOP 10 but also Park Hye Su, the rapper Ji Yu Min, Jeon So Hyun, Kang Pu Reum, Hong Chan Mi and the judges Yoo Hee Yeol and Park Jin Young. JYP also performed his comeback song “Who’s Your Mama?” with Lucky J‘s Jessi.

It’s sad to see another season come to an end but we have to keep cheering for our favorite candidates because with the amount of talent that each of them posses will surely get them offers  under great companies very soon. We hope all of them succeed and accomplish their dream and greatly congratulate Katie Kim on her epic victory.

I've loved Asia in general since I was a little kid, when I used to prefer animes over regular cartoons and my friends thought I was weird. While I became older, my love for Asian culture grew up and I began to listen to japanese music and watch japanese dramas, which I fell in love with. A few years ago, my friends dragged me into the k-pop world and I began so involved with Korea that I think I will never be able to overcome my love for it. I now dream of studying in Korea and, hopefully, working in Seoul and living the rest of my life there. I believe that there's no k-pop group that I really don't like, but my ultimate biases are G-Dragon, Heechul, Hongki, CL, Lee Hi, Hani and Hyuna. I also like YG Appa and JYP a lot, but as fatherly figures, not really as idols.
