I am beginning to write this article with heavy heart and a lot of concern for the future that awaits one of the most popular groups in K-pop, B.A.P.
Tomorrow on March 16th, the battle between the members; Himchan, Yongguk, Youngjae, Jongup, Daehyun and Zelo and their former agency, TS Entertainment.
As a little reminder; B.A.P members filed the lawsuit for termination of unfair contract with the company on November 26th, 2014. The contract that they signed back in 2011, according to them, was too one-sided an in favor to the company, and they had to stay under the agency 7 years, not from the day they signed but from release of first album.
Even when we didn’t knew anything about the plans of lawsuit we knew that the members cancelled their South American Tour, just days before the date of the first concert, and continuous health problems due to exhaustion.
B.A.P’s last official stage was on Music Bank Concert in Mexico, and we saw how they looked unhealthy, especially Daehyun and Yongguk.
When the news broke out, the fans stood behind B.A.P supporting their fight untill the end. The “slave” contracts need to be stopped in Kpop. Everyone is saying, they knew what they were getting into, but that’s the other sad truth, they all went for it because their dream is living and breathing music and sharing that same passion with the fans. Young people don’t see that heavy side of these contracts because they are blinded with wanting to make it big no matter what.
I am glad this group wants to fight for themselves and that they put an end to crazy schedules and unfair treatment. The legal representative of B.A.P confirmed that the first mediation in court begins tomorrow on March 16. B.A.P being one of my favorite groups because they won me over with amazing skills, lovable personalities and with their music, I can’t help but feel worried for them. I miss them but I feel anxious because I know TS wont let them go easily.
What happens if they win the lawsuit? What then? If they lose? Are they going to be able to promote ever again with the name of “B.A.P”? I can’t even think about that possibility.
The legal representatives of the group, Dodam said that they have enough evidence to dispute all claims that TS stated and assure fans that they can win this; “The response filed by TS Entertainment on January 15 did not dispute the claim saying that they spent 155 million won meant for album promotions without any notice.
They also added: “TS Entertainment has yet to issue a concrete response, saying that they had too much material to go over. They said they will get back to us quickly but they have yet to send anything as of March 4.”
Here in KMusic we have a lot of Baby‘z and I am one of them and we want to say a word or two and send our love to the members.
