On July 15th, ITZY released the music video to their brand new title track, ‘SNEAKERS’. This came alongside the quintet’s 5th mini album, ‘Checkmate’. The single conveys the message to find your pair of sneakers to run free with positivity. Its upbeat poppy instrumental lifts a mood instantly. Vocal and raps have a teen youthfulness, further bringing lightness.
Its accompanying music video features a string of plots linked only by the shoes. From a Cinderella-esque storyline of princes trying to find the perfect fit of sneaker as opposed to glass slipper, the royal members control the guards of the palace, demanding attention. Mashed up is a trip to the space agency where the group travel to an intergalactic world centered around the footwear. Flying sneakers act as vehicles to get around as the girl group dances in vivid coloured outdoors.
