On October 29th, female soloist JEON SOMI dropped the music video to the brand new single, ‘XOXO’. The track acts as the title track off the former I.O.I member’s 1st full album released at the same and identical name. Amongst the eight tracks, four of them include this title as well as The Black Label act’s former hits including solo debut single ‘Birthday’, ‘What You Waiting For’ and this year’s ‘Dumb Dumb’.
Famously having 1 comeback single a year since going solo, 2021 has a strong few months for the singer. Dropping ‘Dumb Dumb’ in August, the track went viral along with its point chorus choreography. It ended up being her most commercially successful track to ate, reaching the #8 position on the South Korean Gaon Chart. With a few more songs to boast this comeback, all deprived fans globally can sit back and enjoy the voice and charms of the vocalist in full.
‘XOXO’ follows the aftermath of a bitter breakup. With one half leaving the other cheating and leaving the supposed lover out in the cold, the track speaks as retaliation to their actions.

Watching the music video, we see a parallel storyline unfold. Finding out from friends that her boyfriend cheated on her with another girl, she’s flabbergasted. immediately texting her boyfriend, and after being left on read, she decides to take matters into her own hands. Together with her gals, they car chase the cheater into the desert before blowing up the car, causing it to tumble.
Capturing and kidnapped in an abandoned house, she torments with various physical altercations. However, with police reports making it to the local newspaper of someone missing, she ends up strapping dynamite at the house of kidnapping. However, deciding on the not so violent route, she begins to leave the house. But as a small dog walks cutely towards her, she picks it up and accidently drops the denotation device, leaving the house in flames. Slightly relieved but mostly concerned, the MV ends as we find out the montage was all in her head. Instead, we see her bitterly drawing on her notepad regretting her choices.
