We’ve reached the start of a new month once again (this year’s flying fast isn’t it), so it’s time to look back at our favourite comebacks from the last month. October 2021 had a resurgence of releases, and with too many to choose from, the list of the best bops could be endless. Below are our top 3 picks from the last month.
NCT 127 ‘FAVORITE (VAMPIRE)’
After their extended break of well over a year, the SM Entertainment act came back earlier in September with their 3rd full album, ‘Sticker’ featuring the same named title track. Unbeknownst to us though, they gave us a repackage this month with this new promoting single. The catchy whistling motif mirrors ‘Sticker’ but the track moves to an electronic breakdown post second chorus that brings the song to another level. Also, you can’t forgo harmonised and layered vocals in every refrain.
BUGABOO ‘BUGABOO’
A highly anticipated debut by hitmaker producer Ryan S.Jhun (eg) ‘Stealer’, ‘Lucifer’, ‘Kick It’, ‘Celebrity’), the girl group made their spooky splash into the K-Pop scene with this banger. The merge of genres and the horns in the instrumental create an upbeat and varied track. Add the earworm of the title being sung and it makes the potion of a song easy going down.
SEVENTEEN ‘ROCK WITH YOU’
Back for the 2nd time this year, the 13 members take on more rock infused song just like it’s title. They don’t go with the hard rock route, instead opting for a light melodic beat. Performance wise, the Pledis Entertainment guys don’t disappoint. Although not as complex as some of their previous hits (eg) ‘Hit’)), the synchronization is on point. The high vocals in the chorus pierce through the straight forward sustained instrumental to create a a platform for their veteran skills to shine.
