On October 16th, AKMU‘s LEE SUHYUN dropped the MV for her solo debut single, ‘Alien’. This marks her debut after AKMU back in 2014. Check it out down below!
LEE SUHYUN ‘ALIEN’ MV:
The intergalactic lyrics depict the story of an alien who exceeded expectations on their home planet and was sent to Earth to save the world. Instrumentally, the track has a retro funky vibe. Combined with the airy almost unbothered vocal tone of the singer, the shining backtrack stands out to create that futuristic feel.
Watching the MV, we see the soloist on her foreign planet far away winning games such as game racing. She finds a dance machine that reads ‘You are ready’ as she changes her clothes to prepare for what is to come. Fighting, many different aliens come to attack the planet. However with her winning skills, she is able to shoot them away. Other than this story, there is a choreography to the song. Supported by backup dancers, the simple but catchy routine in the chorus is memorable. Furthermore, the whole music video is shot between scenes of the real world and a CG comic book overlay. Transitioning between the two styles leaves a sense of fantasy as such is an alien’s existence to the viewer.
After singing soundtracks and being a featured artist of many tracks, this solo debut was highly anticipated by fans. The differing musical style between this and her brother duo AKMU shows a new side to her, expanding her musical range.
