‘The Girl From Back Then‘ is a ballad of the best kind. The stirring chords of the keyboard are woven through heartfelt lyrics that are delivered with so much feeling that listeners can’t help but feel emotional. When more instruments are added into the mix ‘The Girl From Back Then‘ first becomes a song that wouldn’t be out of place in the OST of a new romantic drama, but later takes on a soft rock vibe as well. LONG:D have struck a perfect balance in this song, meaning that the track has just enough sentimentality to be relatable to its audience without feeling overdone.
The music video that accompanies this song is equally as beautiful. Juxtaposing colourful scenes of a happy couple with washed out shots of a lonely man highlights the heartbreaking message of ‘The Girl From Back Then‘.
Whilst LONG:D might be unfamiliar to many K-pop fans, the indie duo is making a name for themselves in recent months. ‘The Girl From Back Then‘ follows the group’s collaboration with Weki Meki‘s Doyeon for ‘All Night‘ at the end of last year.
